its really hot, so we are currently having a lan part. Everyone is playing peggle. I just sold my a35 to a fella riding down from washington to san diego. His old motor imploded in SJ so those dudes have been helping him, but determined his old motor was toast.

Anyhow, the last few days (after spelunking yosemite) I’ve been working on my pinto. You may have seen sean’s swinger and its pretty rad. Last week we went on a ride and he was hecka fast and I got dusted so I decided I needed to do some work. I did some porting and created basically the same bikes as his, but my proma circuit is cracked and the welding mask is broken. So I came back home and put on an old shaw ported cylinder, 17 bing, custom pipe and some other stuff. I made a mess but it all turned out well but looks like a turd.

It’s fast but needs to be geared shorter so it really moves. I gotta beat sean (in speed, not looks). I managed to break a ring and make a huge mess, but sean just confirmed mine is faster (despite me cheating).

Today was fix the pinto day, and I didn’t finish cause it was my brother’s b-day and we had to eat ribs and eat cheesecake.

Before:

The bike was actually in great shape, well besides the ugly paint. Its not actually that bad, just faded and rusted and ugly. Someone thought it’d be cool to just paint everything, bolts, cables and wires included. At least they took the tank off and taped off the chrome. Good job! It’s kinda funny they went from nice orange to yellow.

Regardless, the thing had great spark, solid wiring, good compression and just the typical varnished carb. So I just attacked this the easy way: soaked the carb, checked the points, refilled the tranny, rinsed out the tank, replaced the petcock, cleaned up the wiring, and replaced the throttle cable. I hate throttle cables.

Finally got everything together and started 2nd kick with the choke on. It idles nice, and revs up really well. It sounds like its going to be kinda quick too! All the lights, switches and horn even work.

Tomorrow I’ll get some finished pictures after I pull the wheels off, clean the brakes, replace the tubes and put in new rim strips, and replace the drive chain. Maybe I’ll even polish it up a bit, but probably not. Then its time to blast! Oh, I HATE how high the stock seat sits over the tank. UGLY.

So 2 blown magneto seals. This sucks, but turns out you don’t use rtv or sealant on seals. Stupid me, now I get to rebuild 2 e50s. Its not that thats hard, its just annoying making a dumb mistake like that then being down both of my motors. Tom was nice enough to lend me his magnum that we hopped up and its ripping. Currently there are 3 magnums in the shed.

Check the seals, no pinch!

I got 1 of 2 frames I decided I wanted today. First up is the hobbit frame, no need for anything else on there. I’ve got some ideas, we will see how they materialize. Look for those updates coming in 1 big chunk later.

I still want a pinto frame, and would love to get a rigid. I’m not sure if I’m ready to pay what they cost (plus tank), but I might. I’m sick of maxi’s and want something different, and way cooler. An orange swinger would be awesome!

I also painted the magnum frame (finally). I might paint the forks, we’ll see. Something needs to happen with the tank as well, either glossy black or repaint the chalk for ultimate awesomeness. I might even do it flat black but that seems a little lame. Ideas?
